Experienced corporate finance partner and dealmaker joins RG Corporate Finance

Ryecroft Glenton (RG) has announced the appointment of Nick Johnson as Corporate Finance Partner to further strengthen RG’s growing, award-winning, corporate finance service line.

Carl Swansbury, founder and Head of RG Corporate Finance, said Nick’s appointment will help the firm increase the number and variety of mid-market transactions RG advises on.

Nick, originally from the North East, is an experienced corporate financier and has 25 years of experience in advising on management buyouts, disposals, acquisitions, fundraising and providing strategic support to owner managed businesses, Plc’s and PE houses throughout the UK, as well as internationally.

He has experience of advising clients in a wide variety of sectors including healthcare, manufacturing & engineering and TMT. He has been involved in more than 150 transactions during his career and recent deal highlights include the £200m buyout of Healthcare at Home, the sale of family owned precision engineering firm Clamason Industries, and the sale of software business Lakeview.

He arrives at RG from professional services firm Mazars, where he was a senior corporate finance partner and Head of Clients, Markets and Strategy for the UK M&A business. He previously founded his own advisory business Atticus in 2008, focussing on offering long-term support and corporate finance advice to private companies, entrepreneurs and management teams.

Atticus joined with Mazars in 2011. In the same year, he set up Lighthouse, which provided management advisory services to management teams involved in private equity deals.

Nick has significant business experience from a 25-year career spent in professional services working throughout the UK and overseas.  Before establishing Atticus, he spent 16 years at global firm, Deloitte and Touche.

He trained at Touche Ross in Leeds, became a partner at the age of 32, and set up and led Deloitte’s highly successful Midlands M&A team.

Nick was drawn to the firm because of its impressive track record, along with the high calibre of its award-winning corporate finance capability.

Nick, who is married with four children, said: “My skills are complimentary to RG’s future ambitions and I feel I can add to its considerable expertise by drawing on my experience across a range of sectors. Together, I am very confident and excited that we will continue to grow the already tremendously successful corporate finance business and make a big contribution to the rest of the firm”.

Carl Swansbury said: “Nick is an incredibly experienced corporate financier and brings an added breadth and quality of knowledge to the firm and our clients. His considerable skills will not only supplement those of our current team, but his undoubted ability will play an important part in our future growth plans for RG Corporate Finance, along with the wider firm. I am delighted to welcome Nick to the team.”
