Daredevil RG staff raise £8,000 for St Oswald’s Hospice

Adrenaline junkies from business advisory firm Ryecroft Glenton (RG) have raised an amazing £8,000 in aid of St Oswald’s Hospice after braving a zip wire off the Tyne Bridge.

The team of 23, which included managing partner Chris Robson, stepped off the historic landmark before whizzing almost 1,000ft diagonally down to the Gateshead quayside below.

Staff at the Newcastle-based firm regularly fundraise for the hospice, which has cared for a number of the firm’s family members during the charity’s 30 year history.

Fiona Hall braves the zip wire

Deborah Graham, a partner at RG, paid tribute to the courage of those who took part, given most had never been on a zip wire before.

She said: “They were all amazing. Some of the team were a little more reluctant than others, but they still did it.

“It was certainly an experience to step off the side of the bridge and slide across the Tyne. I am thrilled to have done it, but I certainly won’t be rushing to try it again!”

She also paid tribute to secretary Fiona Hall, who helped co-ordinate the fundraising effort, as well as other members of RG staff who turned up to offer their moral support.

Chris Robson, added: “I wish to thank all those who helped raise such a magnificent amount for St Oswald’s Hospice. It truly was a great effort.

“The zip wire was unforgettable and I’m always amazed at the lengths our staff at RG will go to support such a worthwhile charity.”

Jessica Murphy of St Oswald’s Hospice, said: “The RG team have gone above and beyond in terms of their fundraising efforts for St Oswald’s Hospice.

Not only having 23 brave people sign up to zip wire off the Tyne bridge, but to exceed the fundraising target will mean so much to the people who use our facilities. We couldn’t and wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for individuals and companies like RG, giving up their time to do something amazing!”
