RYECROFT GLENTON TEAM “RG BARGY” WIN FIRST PRIZE IN THE KAPLAN FACTOR NATIONAL COMPETITION
After their success in the regional heats of the Kaplan Factor last month it was confirmed that team ‘RG Bargy’ had finished in the top 5 nationally and would complete the Krypton Factor assault course in the final.
RG Bargy, along with 4 other teams, travelled to Richmond and were faced with a choice of archery, quad biking and the assault course. Whilst others split their teams and chose to do all 3 events, RG Bargy decided to complete the assault course together.
During the assault course there was a maximum of 150 points available for each team and points were lost for each of the 13 obstacles not completed correctly. Obstacles included a 40ft tree climb, the quagmire and a 500ft zip wire. With team cohesion being more important than individual performances teams could not move on to the next obstacle until the last person had successfully finished the previous one.
After a gruelling 10 minutes and 54 seconds, RG Bargy managed to crawl, jump and swing their way to victory and claim the prize of £1,000 for a charity of their choice, as well as a rather impressive trophy. The £1,000 prize has been donated to the Stroke Association.
