Tony Anderson, Manager, goes under the spotlight!

What is your role with RG?

I am a Manager within the Audit and Assurance service line.

Tell me about your career to date?

I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2016 with a first-class degree in Business Management & Finance.

I had planned to spend some time travelling but was offered a graduate role at RG and haven’t looked back since! I completed my ACA qualification in December 2019 and was promoted to Manager in April 2022.

What does your current role involve?

I work closely with a variety of clients across a range of sectors with the majority being corporate entities. My role is to assist with the delivery of our technical services which include audit, accountancy and tax.

As part of my role, I manage and review the work prepared by junior members of the accounts and audit departments, assisting them with their queries which is an aspect of my job I particularly enjoy.

What makes RG different?

The team at RG are all very friendly and there is a wide range of knowledge throughout the firm. This allows staff across other service lines to assist each other, which means you get to know those who aren’t in your direct team and helps create a great atmosphere within the firm.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I like to keep relatively active, otherwise I tend to get dragged to the pub. I play golf once/twice a week, lowering my handicap down to 5 earlier this season (now back to 6). I like to get over to the Lake District a couple of times of year to conquer some mountains and try to go to the gym 3-4 days a week. My girlfriend and I love to travel, hence why it’s often joked I manage to get more holidays than others.

Tell us about your day so far?

Today started with a teams call with a fellow Audit Manager and a Director to go over the large group audit we are right in the heart of, assigning tasks and deciding what was most urgent.

Following that I spoke to a member of the accounts team who needed some assistance with the preparation of a medium set of statutory accounts.

After being out of the office on Friday, I then caught up on my outstanding emails from my broad range of clients. Much of my day was then spent drafting tax computations for the large group audit mentioned earlier, sending them on to a member of the tax team for them to review.

Following the day’s work, I headed to the gym straight from the office.

And finally, leave us with one interesting fact about yourself?

I’ve met King Charles twice and he was very pleasant, however he did ask me the same question both times which always amuses me. And yes, I can ride a bike.
