Ryecroft Glenton is celebrating raising over £5,000 for charities in the last twelve months.
The Newcastle based firm held a number of events throughout the year to raise money for charities including St Oswald’s Hospice, Marie Curie and Breast Cancer Research. The fundraising activities have included cake stalls and raffles.
All fundraising events are co-ordinated by Fiona Hall, who is the assistant to Ryecroft Glenton’s Managing Partner, Chris Robson. Marie Curie and St Oswald’s Hospice supported Fiona and her family when her father required end of life care in 1999. She is keen to not only continue this support, but also to help other colleagues raise money for charitable causes important to them.
More recently, Ryecroft Glenton entered a team into Marie Curie North East’s Out of Office Fundraising Day. The event, which took place on May 18th, involved them visiting local businesses to obtain as many non-cash donations as possible for the charity.
Covering an area including Gosforth and Jesmond, Ryecroft Glenton’s team of five staff (Fiona Hall, Kenny Johnsone, Michael Parry, Kimberley Maines and Matt English managed to negotiate, among others, a six months’ ‘gold’ membership at Jesmond Tennis Club, a Parklands Golf Day, a Newcastle United Sunday lunch, and Newcastle Cricket Club free venue hire.
In addition to completing the task, the team managed to collect some cash donations raising £1,075, which with gift aid is worth £1,343.75 to Marie Curie.
Fiona Hall said: “I am so happy with the amount of money Ryecroft Glenton has already raised for these amazing charities and I’m delighted we’re going to continue it this year. St Oswald’s is particularly close to my heart, because of the care its team gave to my father. He had respite care there for a year, and actually passed away at the hospice. Even though it was 27 years ago, I’m still grateful for the care he got from the staff. They’re amazing.
“We’re very excited to see how much money we can raise over the coming financial year. I know the staff have some great ideas for charities they’d like to support, and ways they want to give back to the community.”
Deborah Graham, Partner at Ryecroft Glenton, said: “It is really important to us, at Ryecroft Glenton, to be a good neighbour within our local community and give back to charity whenever we can.”
“It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the firm, to acknowledge Fiona’s hard work, as she is the driving force behind our fundraising campaigns and pulls everyone together. Without her, none of it would be possible. I’m very pleased that we’ve managed to raise over £5,000 this year, and it gives us a challenging target to beat next year.”
