VAT Deferrals: Important information if you pay by direct debit

All VAT registered businesses are eligible for the recently announced VAT deferral which generally means that you do not need to pay VAT which would normally be due on 7 April, 7 May or 7 June 2020.

This deferral is automatic and no application is necessary, however, if you normally pay your VAT by direct debit to HMRC, you should cancel this as soon as possible because HMRC can not guarantee that their system won’t automatically deduct money from your account during the deferral period.

Please note that you must continue to file VAT returns by your normal due date during the deferral period. Any VAT deferred will be payable by 31 March 2021.
