Accounts and Outsourced Services Manager, Kenny Johnsone and Audit and Assurance Assistant, Tom Shaw have completed 13 half marathons in 13 days. They began on Monday 29 March and just over 170 miles and 13 days later completed their final run at Newcastle Quayside, on Saturday 10 April.
They undertook the challenge to raise funds for Marie Curie, a charity that cares for and supports terminally ill people and their families. It costs just £20 for an hour of nursing care and every single penny makes a difference to patients being cared for both at home and in the Newcastle hospice.
Kenny said, “Marie Curie are experiencing some very challenging times with their services and fundraising during the coronavirus pandemic and so need support now more than ever before. Because of these challenges Tom and I decided to take on a challenge of our own. We are delighted to have raised so much money to support these incredible nurses.”
Tom added, “I think we can both agree it was one of the hardest things we’ve ever done, with quite a few ups and downs over the course of the two weeks. However, knowing that it was for such a great cause and that we had the support of so many people made the sore legs and blisters worth it.”
At the time of writing, Kenny and Tom had raised an amazing £4,737 for the charity. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause and recognise Kenny and Tom’s achievement please click on the following link:-
