Tell me about your career to date…

My journey in the financial services realm kicked off with Barclays right after university, where I dived into a role within the branch network in the North East. My role consisted of tackling intricate customer issues like fraud, bereavement, and budget planning, opening new accounts, making large business transfers, and trying, and often failing, to persuade our elderly customers that the machines would provide the same outcome as going to the staffed desk. Amidst all of this, one of the key lessons that I learnt from my time at Barclays was that appearances can be deceiving, and wealth isn’t always obvious.

Having worked in various branches across the North East, I embarked on a brief stint at Santander as a complex claim assessor, delving into cases of mis-sold products for a wide variety of customers. My career trajectory took an unexpected turn when RGCF reached out to me via LinkedIn, igniting discussions about a potential corporate finance advisory role.

Fast forward nearly five years, and one promotion. I remain very happy being part of the Ryecroft Glenton team.

What does your current role involve?

My role at Ryecroft Glenton Corporate Finance involves advising businesses, entrepreneurs, and shareholders on a wide range of corporate finance and business strategy matters.

This includes helping entrepreneurs prepare comprehensive business plans to secure funding, defining, and documenting corporate and growth strategies for businesses, identifying suitable acquisition targets for acquirers, conducting company valuations, advising on the sale of businesses, and providing guidance to management teams on management buyouts (“MBOs”) and management buy-ins (“MBIs”).

What makes RG different?

At Ryecroft Glenton, our longstanding heritage and well-established reputation set us apart. With over 100 staff members, we are a well-situated and respected firm that offers a full range of services, but what truly distinguishes us is our integrated approach; our service lines collaborate seamlessly to ensure our clients receive the best possible outcomes.

Additionally, our firm is led by individuals who prioritise autonomy, and responsibility, whilst fostering a supportive environment that allows individuals to progress at their own pace.

This combination of heritage, teamwork, and supportive leadership makes Ryecroft Glenton a unique and desirable place to work, setting us apart from the competition.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

Now I’m in my late 20’s, I am a big fan of solo travelling, which has led me to visit Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin and Munich (and Benidorm..) in the last 24 months. Each city was very different, but my favourites were Barcelona and Munich, which I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t been before!

And finally, leave us with one interesting fact about yourself…

Before I chose to study my A-Levels, I aspired to be a chef and I spent one year at a culinary school. I quickly realised that I favoured cooking for friends and family more than the public, so I chose to broaden my horizons.
