Silent auction to help children’s charity increase reach in the north east draws closer

Two tickets for Julien Macdonald’s Autumn Winter 2016 Catwalk Show, as part of London Fashion Week and two VIP tickets for Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals are up for grabs at a special online silent auction to help the charity Chance UK launch a new service in the North East.

Ryecroft Glenton, the Newcastle-based accountants and business advisers, will run the auction in October to support Chance UK’s National Development Programme. It has already secured a number of auction items, including some champagne, a country pursuit activity for a group of four and a signed Sunderland FC shirt.

Generous donations of auction lots are still flowing in and can be made by contacting Carl Swansbury at carlswansbury@ryecroft-glenton.co.uk or Sara Farrey at sarafarrey@ryecroft-glenton.co.uk.

Those interested in supporting Chance UK, by getting  their hands on some fantastic auction items, can view the lots on Ryecroft Glenton’s website from the 5th October and place silent bids by emailing Carl or Sara between 9am on the 12th October, and 5pm on the 23rd of October, when the auction will draw to a close.

Chance UK delivers one-to-one mentoring to primary school children who have behavioural difficulties, many of whom have been excluded from school or are at risk of exclusion at the time of their referral to Chance UK.   These children are at increased risk of getting involved in anti-social, gang activity and criminal behaviour later in adolescence and early adulthood.

Chance UK was established in London 20 years ago and operates across six boroughs in the Capital. For the last 10 years the charity has operated a series of social franchises around the country, which deliver its programmes, enabling a greater number of children to receive early intervention mentoring support. These social franchises are established and supported through Chance UK’s National Development Programme.

The Chance UK National Development Programme matches each child with an adult volunteer mentor on a one to one basis for a year. The programme helps them improve their behaviour, raise their self-esteem and fulfil their potential. Alongside the mentoring, intensive support is provided to the parents/main carers of the children that they work with.

Carl Swansbury, partner at Ryecroft Glenton, said: “We’re very encouraged by the kind donations that have already been made: we have a number of auction items in the pipeline that will generate even more excitement and help raise as much as possible for such a worthy cause – keep your eyes peeled.”

Gracia McGrath, Chief Executive of Chance UK, said: “The support provided by Carl, Sara and the team at Ryecroft Glenton will help us hugely in our attempts to set up a service in the North East, which will provide countless children with the support and guidance they need. We’ll await the result of the auction with bated breath, but are confident that it will be a resounding success.”
