Touch Rugby

Ryecroft Glenton have again took part in Newcastle Falcons “Summer of Touch” competition and returned from the finals night with silverware after winning the Plate competition.

The 2015 touch rugby competition saw over 200 people participate with 18 teams taking part in the games played over 8 weeks at Kingston Park on the Falcons’ new synthetic pitch. Teams were made up of 5 players with at least 1 member of the opposite sex taking part at all times. Over the first 6 weeks all the teams played each other once in a league format before the table was split into 4 competitions: the Cup, Shield, Plate and Bowl. The finals were spread over 2 weeks allowing teams to play each other twice in their respective competitions.

In the Plate competition Ryecroft Glenton took on Onyx Barbarians, Team Oosh and Law Blacks, winning 5 of their 6 games over the 2 weeks with only a controversial refereeing decision denying them a clean sweep. They were not, however, to be denied the silverware.
